NEW DELHI: Former union minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti has been granted another extension of interim protection from The Patiala House Court in Delhi. P Chidambaram and his son Karti l got the interim ptotection till 8 October.
The court had earlier granted interim protection from arrest till today (7 August 2018) to Karti in two cases filed by the CBI and ED in 2011 and 2012, respectively in the Aircel-Maxis matter arising out of 2G spectrum cases.
Chidambaram and his son Karti were named in the chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the case on July 19. The probe agency may file supplementary charge sheets in the case, apparently keeps open the chances of arraying more persons as accused.
The ED had earlier said that the FIPB approval granted in 2006 by Chidambaram was beyond his mandate as he was only authorized to accord approval on project proposals up to Rs 600 crore.
P Chidambaram has been listed as a co-accused in the supplementary chargesheet filed in Aircel Maxis case; his son Karti was already an accused in the case.
