Branding Happens in Political Elections says: Badrinath

“The amount set by commission for the elections is inadequate as candidates spend more than the decided sum. Many parties also sell tickets.” K.A Badrinath, Editor, Financial Chronicle Magazine, expressed these views on the last day of the two-day workshop organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication & IBM Department of the Mangalayatan University.

He further said that branding takes place in elections and slogans like, “India Shining” is an example of electoral branding. During the elections the media also supports the same.

The 2-day program organized by the Mangalayatan University on the subject, ‘Is Media Changing the Society and its Economic Structure’ ended with a bang.

On the second day of the program, Bharat Bhushan, Advisor, Doordarshan stated that the reach of media is commendable. Starting from print media to radio to television, media now has a new phase all together in the form of blogs and social media.

Speaking on subject ‘Dynamic of India’, Bhushan talked on media TRP. He stated a fact that we use social media for at least 4 hrs which is possible today only because of smart phones we are available with. Further, Bhushan spoke on the different Apps, about their popularity and its techniques. He also said that every year Google earns nearly seven thousand million from India.

On the same occasion, Arun Aditya, Amar Ujala, News Editor expressed his views saying that the conflict today has been stretched to the internal regions of the country and not only limited to the borders. He also said that the situation today is so that the society is changing the media.

Pro. J.L Jain, Dean, Mangalayatan University said that toady media has expanded but the values have really come down.
Prof. Shivaji Sarkar, Convener & Dean, Journalism Department, MU said that the advertisements that use to pop up on electronic media have now been divided with social media which has resulted in the financial stability of TV channels.

Dr. Rajiv Sharma, Program Coordinator & Head, IBM read out the reports on the topics decided of this two-day workshop.

Pro. KVSM Krishna, Vice-Chancellor, MU expressed his happiness over the success of the 2-day workshop.
The workshop gave students the chance of raising questions about their doubts. Also the short film titled ‘Masoom’ was highly appreciated by all. The same was produced by the students of the Journalism Department of the university.

Students of the IVPR also presented the college anthem.

All the guests were presented with the token of respect and appreciation.

Dr. Saurabh Kumar expressed gratitude to everyone present there.
