RAIPUR: Campaigning for the second and final phase of Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh ends on Sunday. Polling in 72 constituencies spread across 19 districts will be held on Tuesday in this phase. In the first phase, polling was held for 18 seats in the eight Naxal-affected districts of the state on November 12.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally at Mahasamund in Chhattisgarh. Prime Minister Modi said that Congress believed in ‘phone-banking’ which destroyed the banks. A total of 1,101 candidates, including nine cabinet ministers, are contesting in this phase.
Senior Congress leaders Raj Babbar and Navjot Singh Sidhu are also addressing public meetings at several places. Meanwhile, campaigning has also picked up in Rajasthan. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has filed her nomination from Jhalarapatan assembly constituency for the upcoming state assembly election at Jhalawar secretariat.
In the first phase, 76.28 per cent voting was registered. Polling for the first phase was held on November 12th in 18 constituencies of the state.
