National News From States Politics

Chennai: Chief Minister V Narayanasamy wants a statehood status for Puducherry, backing Arvind Kejriwal’s demand for a full state status for Delhi. Narayanaswamy said that Puducherry was facing the same issues like that of Delhi. He further alleged that Lt Governor Kiran Bedi has been interfering with government’s functioning and has been using Twitter, Facebook and social media for governance which is an unacceptable way of governance. He added that it is the disruption of the constitution and the rights of the elected representatives.

“Kiran Bedi has been slowing down the process of governance by rejecting or delaying the government project, but despite that the elected government is functioning,” said Narayanasamy. The CM also alleged, “The BJP government-led by Modi in the centre is responsible for the situation. Modi government is doing this in all non-BJP states with the aim of bringing them down.”

The war of words between CM Narayanasamy and Lt Governor Kiran Bedi has been going on for a while. There have been times when the CM has advised his council of ministers not to follow the WhatsApp or social media instructions of the Lt Governor. Meanwhile, Kiran Bedi has been seen as an hands on governor who goes on surprise spot. On previous occasions, Kiran Bedi has said that she was there in Puducherry only for a short stint and her aim was to bring a positive change in the union territory.
