NEW DELHI: The BJP accused the Congress party of trying save Christian Michel, the alleged middleman in the AgustaWestland chopper deal, after he was represented by a youth Congress leader. . Claiming that all three lawyers representing Michel were from the Congress, the saffron party alleged that a “full surveillance” has been launched on Michel by Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi.
The Congress Party had yesterday said that Aljo K Joseph, the national in-charge for the legal department of the party’s youth wing, has been expelled after he failed to consult senior leaders before taking the case. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said that “10 Janpath” – Mrs Gandhi’s residence — ” wants a detailed report on “who is meeting him (Michel), who has asked what, who he has named, what he is saying, etc.” of the party’s youth wing has been expelled, after he failed to consult senior leaders before taking the case.
The 54-year-old has been accused of accepting a bribe of 30 million Euros (around Rs. 225 crore) in Rs. 3,600 crore VVIP chopper deal which was done by the UPA government led by Manmohan Singh.
