New Delhi: A massive dust storm hit parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Saturday. The skies turned black in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden, East Delhi and parts of South Delhi. Metro trains were briefly halted on the blue line, as per individual accounts. Meanwhile, a similar situation was reported from parts of Faridabad and Noida. Metro operations were also hit in Noida with lights going off at Noida sector 18 metro station.
Earlier, Indian Metrological Department issued an alert that dust storms and thunderstorms were expected accompanied with light rain and squall with wind speed upto 70 to 80 KMPH over Delhi and NCR during next 3 hours. A number of thunderstorms have hit parts of Northern India in general and Delhi-NCR, in particular in the past couple of months.
