NEW DELHI: The condition of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on 11 June, deteriorated on Wednesday, the hospital said in a statement. “Unfortunately, his condition has worsened over the last 24 hours,” AIIMS said. “His condition is critical, and he is on life support system.
On August 16 morning Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu and BJP leaders, including Home Minister Rajnath Singh and party national president Amit Shah, visited the AIIMS to enquire about him.
In view of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s critical health, BJP has suspended all its programmes. An event scheduled for 20 August where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to launch a book on Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu’s one year in office has also been postponed.
