Fire in Kolkata Metro several passengers injured no casualties


KOLKATA: Metro services were affected in Kolkata on Thursday evening after an air-conditioned rake of a metro train in Kolkata caught fire however no casualties were reported, police said.

The smoke was detected in the Dum Dum-bound metro train soon after it left the Maidan station. 16 are injured, 15 have minor injuries. One person has fractured his leg,” a metro official said. “An incident of fire between Rabindra Sadan and Maidan around 5pm. The fire put off by our staff through water from fire hydrants. West Bengal fire service & Kolkata Police disaster management group are attending. All passengers have been safely evacuated by 6pm. Pl do not panic,” the official Twitter handle of Kolkata Metro said.

The Kolkata metro authority confirmed the fire, but urged people not to panic as the fire has been successfully put out.
