Jammu And Kashmir: Jammu And Kashmir may get new state head (Governor) after 15th August, the Centre is planning to zero in on former home secretary and current Comptroller and Auditor General Rajiv Mehrishi.

Since June 20 Jammu and Kashmir has been under Governor’s Rule as BJP pulled his hands that lead to end of his alliance with PDP and holding it responsible for the deteriorating security and “discrimination” against Jammu and Ladakh.

The Centre is upset with Vohra over difference between the government and the Governor over  Article 35A. The report cited sources saying that the Centre and Vohra differ on views over the formation of a new government in the state.

Artical 35A  empowers Jammu And Kashmir to decide who are ‘permanent residents’ and provide special rights and privileges to them.

The centre has not extended the tenure of the Governor and could be removed after 15th August.
