JU Prof refers to Bhagat Singh as terrorist inquiry ordered


SRINAGAR: A senior professor from the University of Jammu and Kashmir has called freedom fighter Bhagat Singh a “terrorist” while teaching students. Meanwhile University of Jammu on Thursday ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident.

Vinay Thusoo, official spokesperson of the university, said professor Manoj K Dhar, Vice Chancellor, had constituted a high-level committee headed by the senior-most professor of the university, to look into the complaint of students.

The incident came to light after a video clip of the episode recorded by a student went viral on the social media on Thursday. Dismissing speculations of his suspension, professor Taj-ud-din said The V-C has not suspended me but formed a committee to look into the complaint. Since exams are nearing, I have no more classes to teach as of now. A two-hour lecture cannot be seen in the context of just two minutes,” he said. Prof M Taj-ud-din said he had to intention to hurt anyone’s feelings and apologised.
