Major killed along with 3 army men while foiling infiltration bid in, Kahmir

JAMMU:  An Army major and three soldiers were killed while trying to foil an infiltration bid in Gurez sector of north Kashmir, about 125 km from Srinagar. The encounter between a patrolling party of the Army and the infiltrating group took place at Govind Nallah in Gurez, Kahmir.

The encounter between the patrolling party of the Rashtriya Rifles and the infiltrating group took place when a group of eight was trying to infiltrate into the country. Of them, four ran back to Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, officials said.

The martyred soldiers are Major K P Rane, hawaldars Jamie Singh and Vikramjeet and rifleman Mandeep. Last week, five militants were killed in a counter-insurgency operation in Kilora village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
