No Foreign Dignitaries to be called for, Imran Khan oath taking ceremony: Pak Foreign Office

Pakistan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf  (PTI) spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday clarified that apart from personal invites, no foreign leaders will be invited for the Imran Khan’s swearing-in ceremony. Imran Khan will take oath in a simple ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr (President House),” added Fawad Chaudhry.

Imran Khan had asked for the oath to be staged with austerity, Mr Chaudhry said

A few of Imran’s friends are the only foreign nationals being invited to the event,” said Mr Chaudhry.

Earlier, there were reports of Indian celebrities like Aamir Khan, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar and Navjot Singh Sidhu being invited for the event. Aamir Khan has however denied reports that he got any invite. Imran Khan will likely take oath on August 11.

Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) won 115 seats during Pakistan general election, emerging as the single-largest party.

The PTI had decided to hold the ceremony before 14 August , which is Pakistan’s Independence Day.
