NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said accused Pakistan of sponsoring terror in Jammu and Kashmir. Terrorism in Kashmir is Pakistan-sponsored,” Singh said when addressing the media in New Delhi.
Citing the reasons of the brutal killings of three policemen in Jammu and Kashmir and Islamabad releasing postage stamps “glorifying” Kashmiri militant Burhan Wani, the Union government called off the meeting between the foreign ministers at United Nations General Assembly. The Indian government had agreed for bilateral talks with just 24 hours ago, before cancelling it.
Singh said it has been the objective of the present government to strengthen the institution of zonal councils as well as the inter-state council to promote and maintain a good federal atmosphere of cooperation among states and the Centre. Briefing about the minutes of the zonal council meeting, Singh informed that out of 22 points, 20 have been resolved.
Also the infiltration from Pakistan had gone down by 45 percent in last six months following the surgical strikes as compared to corresponding period previous year,” Home Minister added.
