MUMBAI: Directed by Shankar, a sequel to 2010 blockbuster Robot film 2.0, starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, seems to have taken it upon itself to revive box office collections. 2.0 has bagged over Rs 500 crore at the worldwide box office if all three languages — Hindi, Tamil, Telugu — are taken into account.
The movie is currently at number 12 position in the list of highest grossing Indian films of all time right behind Dhoom 3, but will soon surpass the 2013 Aamir Khan starrer. In India, 2.0 has made Rs 337 crore, while it brought in Rs 114 crore from the international market.
According to film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, 2.0 is going to be Akshay Kumar’s biggest hit film ever. 2.0 was made on a budget of over Rs. 500 crore and it recovered Rs. 370 crore before the film release through the sale of its digital and satellite rights.
