NEW DELHI: After Asia Cup success, Indian opening pair Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma enjoyed a successful Asia Cup 2018, there is significant gains in the latest ICC ODI rankings. Opener Rohit Sharma, who led his team to Asia Cup title in the absence of top-ranked Virat Kohli, is in second position, while Shikhar Dhawan, who was highest run-getter with 342 runs, gained four slots to reach fifth position.
Sharma aggregated 317 runs while Dhawan topped the tournament with 342 runs to gain four slots and reach fifth position. In the bowler’s list, Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah retained his number one spot.
Another India player to gain in the latest rankings was spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who has advanced three places to take a career-best third position in the recent ICC ODI ranking. Afghanistan opener Mohammad Shahzad has gained 19 slots to reach 36th position, his highest in two years, while spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman has gained 15 slots to reach eighth position.
In the absence of Kohli, Rohit led India to a successful title defence. India defeated Bangladesh in the final of the Asia Cup by three wickets to clinch their record 7th Asia Cup trophy.
