JAIPUR: Senior Bihar politician and expelled Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav stoked a controversy on Thursday when has been caught making an outrageous comment on Vasundhara Raje, saying she needs rest and that she is growing fat while campaigning in Alwar in the state.
Mr Yadav, a former union minister, “Vasundhra ko aaram do, bahut thak gayi hain (let Vasundhara relax, she is tired),” remarked, making a comment on her weight. Mr Yadav, the BJP has complained to the Election Commission. Sharad Yadav was expelled from JD(U), which is an NDA ally in Bihar and has been campaigning against the BJP in Rajasthan.
Chief Electoral Officer, Rajasthan, Anand Kumar said he had been apprised of the matter by the BJP’s and would look into it. I said it as a joke. I’ve old relations with her. It wasn’t derogatory in any way. I had no intentions of hurting her. When I met her, I told her then also that you’re gaining weight,” Mr Yadav said.
