MUMBAI: The Shiv Sena on Friday took on its ally BJP, with its MP Sanjay Raut attacking ally BJP over the demand for special law over Ram Mandir dispute provoking BJP with which its oldest saffron ally is not on good terms in the last few months.
“The Babri mosque was demolished in 17 minutes… in about half an hour what needed to be done was done by the Ram bhakts…the blot which was there since years was brought down,” Raut told reporters, referring to the demolition of the mosque in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992.
The comment comes when organisations like the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have been mobilizing support for a religious gathering in Ayodhya on Sunday to mount pressure on the government. Raut demanded that the government enact a law for “quick construction of a grand Ram temple” in Ayodhya.
They (BJP leaders) should show the urgency to announce the date for building the temple,” he added. Party MP Sanjay Raut was in the town twice in the past fortnight and had discussions with local seers over Ram temple issue.
